Walmart, the American retail giant, has opted to cease advertising on social media platform X, citing Elon Musk's anti-Semitic statements as the reason. According to Reuters, the decision was confirmed by a Walmart spokesperson who stated, "We do not advertise on X as we have found other platforms to better reach our customers."
Walmart Inc., known for managing the world's largest wholesale and retail network under the Walmart brand, joins a growing list of companies distancing themselves from platform X. This move comes after Elon Musk, the owner of the company behind platform X, expressed support for an anti-Semitic post on social media.
Several prominent American corporations, including Apple and Disney, have also announced the suspension of their advertising on platform X in response to Musk's controversial statements. This collective action is expected to impact Musk's company, potentially resulting in a loss of up to $75 million in advertising revenue by the end of the year.
In the aftermath of accusations of anti-Semitism, Musk embarked on a trip to Israel, where he met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog. However, just days later, Musk sharply criticized companies that decided to end advertising on platform X.
