The United States plans to announce a new military aid package for Ukraine worth up to $400 million as early as Tuesday. According to Reuters, citing three US officials, it will include artillery, air defense missiles and ground equipment.
At the same time, two officials said on condition of anonymity that cluster munitions were not included in this US aid package.
So, according to officials, the package includes several Stryker armored personnel carriers, mine clearance equipment, ammunition for NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems, ammunition for HIMARS artillery missile systems, anti-tank weapons, including TOW and Javelin, as well as ammunition for Patriot and Stinger anti-aircraft systems.
At the same time, the formation of this assistance package is still being finalized and its composition may change.
The package will be funded by the Presidential Drawdown Authority, which authorizes the president to transfer articles and services from the US stockpile without congressional approval during an emergency. The material will come from US surplus stocks.
As noted by Reuters, the security assistance package will be the 43rd approved by the United States for Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February 2022, totaling more than $41 billion.
