Opposition politician Alexei Navalny died in a Russian colony.
According to the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), Navalny suddenly became ill after a walk. The doctors were unable to revive him.
"Convict Navalny A.A. After the walk, he felt unwell and almost immediately lost consciousness. Medical workers from the institution immediately arrived and an emergency medical team was called. All necessary resuscitation measures were carried out, which did not give positive results. Emergency doctors confirmed the death of the convict ", the statement says.
The VChK-OGPU project, citing sources, reports that Navalny allegedly lost a blood clot.
“The examination is already ready. It seems that Navalny’s blood clot has come off. In any case, this is a political murder,” the channel writes.
Alexei Navalny's lawyer Leonid Solovyov told Novaya Gazeta that he was in the colony on Wednesday. He now refuses to comment.
“By decision of Alexei Navalny’s family, I am not commenting on anything at all. Now we are finding out. Alexey’s lawyer was on Wednesday. Everything was fine then,” Solovyov said.
Navalny's death has already been commented on in the Kremlin. Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a conversation with the press that a check was being carried out according to all the rules. He noted that doctors will find out what caused the death. Putin has already been informed about what happened.
