Laima Vaikule invited the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a concert in the VIP box

"This year, the Laima Vaikule Rendezvous festival is dedicated to Ukraine. And our Society has long-standing, permanent contacts with Ukrainian soldiers who are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in Jurmala and Riga. Therefore, the idea arose to invite them to the final concert of the festival. Laima immediately agreed and everything was organized very quickly," Oleniychuk said.
12 Ukrainian servicemen came to the concert. They were seated in the most honorable places - in the VIP box (for comparison - Alla Pugacheva and Maksym Galkin, who were also present at the concert in support of Ukraine, sat in ordinary spectator seats). Laima signed a card with good luck wishes to each of the defenders of Ukraine. After the concert, she went out to chat with the boys and take pictures with them.
"I also want to note that Laima was allocated a certain number of tickets for Ukrainian refugees in Latvia. In addition, she signed postcards for three of our boys who were treated here before. We will send them to the addressees at the front in the coming days," shared the head of the Latvian-Ukrainian Friendship Society.
The Laima Rendezvous Jurmala 2023 festival was held at the Dzintari concert hall on July 26-30. It was dedicated to Ukraine, and a significant number of Ukrainian artists were invited to it. A few weeks before the Lyme Festival, she opened an account to support Ukrainian children suffering from the war. The initiative was supported by a number of world stars who sent video appeals to Ukrainians and in support of Ukraine, which were broadcast on Dzintari screens: U2 soloist Bono, American DJ and producer Diplo, American rock band Queens of the Stone Age, British rock band Arctic Monkeys.
It is indicative of how Russian propagandists nicknamed Laima Rendezvous Jurmala 2023 - "Sabbath at which Vaikule collects money for the Armed Forces."
