On the evening of January 13, law enforcement in Kyiv commenced an investigation into a fire at the "Cosmopolit" shopping mall, treating it as intentional destruction or damage to property. The information about the fire in the mall's playroom reached authorities on the same day.

Upon inspecting the scene and analyzing surveillance footage, police, in collaboration with the mall's security service, determined that the fire was the result of a deliberate act by a seven-year-old boy, a visitor to the amusement park. Subsequently, the child's parents were summoned to the Solomianskyi police department to provide statements.

Investigators initiated proceedings under Article 194, Part 2 (intentional destruction or damage to property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Authorities are urging parents to communicate with their children and explain the rules regarding handling fire and flammable materials.

"Remember, playing with fire can lead to tragic consequences," emphasized law enforcement.
