Near Avdeevka, Donetsk region, Ukrainian soldiers and Russian occupiers are conducting positional battles, in particular, to the southwest of the city - in the area of Nevelskoye and Pervomaiskoye, and also to the northwest - near the settlements of Novobakhmutovka, Novokalinovo and Stepnoe.
The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the enemy had advanced slightly. “Geolocation footage published on January 17 shows Russian troops storming and capturing a position east of Nevelskoye...” analysts say.
The Institute added that, according to Ukrainian and Russian sources, positional battles took place in the Severny area (west of Avdiivka), near the Coke and Chemical Plant in the north-west of the city and the industrial zone in the south-east.
