The family of a Pskov paratrooper took a child from an orphanage who had been taken from the Donetsk region. In Ukraine, a military man is accused of killing civilians.

Viktor Filonov and his wife Maria took a seven-year-old Ukrainian boy Oleg from an orphanage in December 2023. On January 23, a story about this was published on the Rossiya Pskov TV channel, and Dozhd drew attention to it.

In the orphanage in Velikiye Luki, from where the Filonovs took the child, Dozhd confirmed that Oleg was brought from Ukraine in 2022. The employees said that he was born in the Donetsk region, but did not say whether he had parents. Oleg suffers from PTSD.

Filonov, 32, has been serving in the 234th Regiment of the 76th Airborne Division since 2012. According to the paratrooper’s relatives, he has been participating in the war with Ukraine from the very beginning. He also has medals “For the return of Crimea” and “Participant in the military operation in Syria.”

According to The New York Times, it was soldiers of the 76th Division who killed civilians in Bucha and other Ukrainian cities in March 2022.

Filonov is included in the database of the Ukrainian website “Peacemaker,” which publishes data on Russians who committed war crimes in Ukraine. It is alleged that he participated in the killings and terror of civilians in Bucha, Borodyanka and other places. Now Filonov is in Pskov. He is recovering from his injury, but plans to return to the war.
