Ukraine can achieve certain asymmetric results in response to offensive operations of the occupying forces by striking the territory of the Russian Federation with a limited number of weapons, mainly of its own production.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War report this, citing a statement by the head of Ukrainian intelligence Kirill Budanov. According to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Ukraine plans to counter future offensive operations of the aggressor country by continuing attacks on Russian military targets on its territory.
According to experts, these announced strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian territory are a component of Ukraine’s campaign to degrade industries that support military efforts and military capabilities behind the invaders’ lines.
"Recent Ukrainian strikes, which targeted Russian military infrastructure in Russia, threatened Russian oil refining and exports, and increased pressure on the Russian air defense umbrella. The attacks demonstrated that Ukraine can achieve some asymmetrical effects through strikes with a limited number of primarily domestically produced weapons. ", noted ISW.
