Not just a car, or a copter: in Lviv, a volunteer bought a real armored personnel carrier for the military

In Lvov, the wife of a military man, Orysia Demyanuk, an athlete and multiple champion of Ukraine, organized the “Running on the APC” campaign. The run took place both offline and online, and each participant donated. In a month, they managed to collect the required amount - more than a million hryvnias, according to TSN.
“I remember the first time I wrote in stories that my friends, I’m looking for an armored personnel carrier, help me find it. Most of my friends laughed:“ What do you think, then buy a rover for you, ”recalls Orysia.
But the multiple champion of Ukraine in running, whose brother and husband, Olympic participant Dmitry Demyanyuk, is at the front, nevertheless managed to fulfill her plan.
The request for an armored personnel carrier came from the relatives of Orysia, who volunteered to fight. The woman decided to raise funds by what she can do best - she organized an action "running along the armored personnel carrier." Offline participants ran in the Lviv park, it was also possible to run online - register on the site and make a charitable donation. In a month, we managed to collect the required amount - more than a million hryvnias. “If there were 10,000 Orys in Ukraine, perhaps we would have waged a slightly different war,” said the marathon participants.
The armored personnel carrier was found in Poland, but while the required amount was collected, it had already been bought, so the search continued. “My brother and his brothers were looking for armored personnel carriers on various Internet platforms, so they ended up on an armored personnel carrier in a Polish Olkh,” Orysia recalls.
An armored personnel carrier - half a century, the former owner - a Pole - conducted excursions on it, drove tourists. When I found out that Ukrainians were buying armored personnel carriers for the front, I even partially repaired it at my own expense. But there was another challenge ahead - crossing the border.
“As an individual, I cannot buy an armored personnel carrier and make an acceptance certificate for the military, so I asked the scouts to help me with this. The armored personnel carrier has been demilitarized, we have documents, the Polish commission claimed this, we appealed to this document at the border, ”a volunteer talks about the “wrapping”.
This armored personnel carrier was bought in order to safely enter positions, safely leave and, if necessary, pick up wounded soldiers. We hope that he will serve faithfully and save more than one life, ”says brother Orysi, who is now on rotation and helps with the repair of equipment.
After repair, the armored personnel carrier from Orysia will go to the Luhansk region.
