A group of divers spotted a rare huge fish off the coast of Taiwan, which is considered the Doomsday fish. It is the largest of the bony fish, and its length can reach 8 meters.
According to the New York Post, Russell's rare thong fish, also called the herring king, was seen off the coast of Ruifang. She was only two meters long. But divers were surprised that the fish were in shallow water.
People note that there were traces of wounds on her body, probably inflicted by a Brazilian shark. Usually this species can be found only at a depth of 200 to 975 m. Obviously, the fish was dying, and therefore swam to shallow water.
At the same time, some people are not so much fascinated by this event as frightened. Japanese mythology says that near the coast this fish can be seen before a terrible cataclysm. It is because of this that it is called the Doomsday fish. It is noteworthy that dozens of these fish were recorded off the coast of Japan two years before the tsunami destroyed the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant.
But scientists assure that there is no connection between the cataclysms and the presence of belt fish off the coast.
