In Ukraine, amidst the full-scale invasion by Russia, some Members of Parliament have found opportunities to expand their businesses. Journalists have uncovered connections between Ivan Krulko, a two-term MP from the "Fatherland" party, and his brother, a local deputy from the same party, with the Apartel network.
It has come to light that the business venture of the Krulko brothers emerged and began to flourish after Ivan Krulko's entry into the Ukrainian Parliament. Interestingly, the new hotel complex was inaugurated during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Curiously, neither of the brothers is listed as a legal owner of the business, and thus, it remained undeclared.
In June, Ivan Krulko was present at the opening of the private hotel and restaurant complex, Apartel Uzhhorod. While he cut the ribbon ceremoniously, his younger brother, Vasyl Krulko, who has been a deputy in the Zakarpattia Regional Council from the "Fatherland" party since 2020, did the honors.
Ivan Krulko has been an MP since 2014, a member of the 'Fatherland' faction, and one of Yulia Tymoshenko's deputies in the party. At the beginning of September 2023, he was among the parliamentarians who did not support the establishment of an electronic property declaration registry. Ivan Krulko justified his decision by citing security concerns during the war.
