In a celebration of Ukrainian art and culture, the Potocki Palace in Lviv is hosting a remarkable exhibition known as "The Phenomenon of Maria Primachenko." This exhibition showcases the essence of Ukraine through the unique paintings and pottery of the renowned artist. Collaborating with colleagues from Zaporizhzhia, the exhibition presents an array of unconventional creatures and flowers that could only have sprung from the heart of Ukraine, as did Maria Primachenko herself.
Taras Voznyak, the director of Lviv National Art Gallery named after Boris Voznytsky, expressed his views on the significance of this event, saying, "The paintings and the pottery are a unique heritage of Ukrainians that should be shared with the world." The exhibition presents 36 artifacts from the Trypillian culture dating back to the VI-III millennia BCE and 51 pieces from the collection of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Art Museum.
Voznyak further added, "We have been collecting this assortment for many years. Maria Primachenko was a woman with a profound soul and a distinctive character. Not all museums could connect with her, but she was always supportive of us, and once she generously donated 70 of her works to our collection. Today, we have preserved over 100 of her artworks, making it the largest collection after those in the capital's museums. We take great pride in this."
The exhibition will be open for visitors until December 31, 2023.
