In a recent appearance on comedian Joe Rogan's podcast, Elon Musk expressed his concerns about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence (AI). He believes that if AI is programmed by environmental activists with the intent of protecting the planet, it could ultimately lead to the extinction of humanity.
Musk's comments come on the eve of a summit on AI safety in the United Kingdom, where he is set to meet with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Many experts consider Musk's warnings to be excessive, but the billionaire entrepreneur remains steadfast in his beliefs.
The SpaceX and Tesla CEO explained that his comments were driven by a fear that the environmental movement had gone too far. He stated, "If you start to think humans are bad, then the natural conclusion from that is humans should go extinct... If AI is programmed by eco-extremists, its useful function will be the extinction of humanity."
Musk called for global cooperation to share knowledge and make AI technology accessible to the public. He emphasized the importance of equal rights for countries, regardless of their size or power, in the development and use of AI. Musk's plea aimed to increase the representation and voice of developing nations in this technological field.
