Switzerland has sent the first batch of Leopard 2 tanks to Germany, which replace the vehicles sent by Berlin to Ukraine. This happened against the backdrop of failure to fulfill promises to provide Kyiv with multi-billion-dollar aid from Europe and the United States related to political disputes. This is stated in the Bloomberg material.

It is noted that the first nine Leopard 2 A4 tanks were transferred to the German company Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH on Tuesday, January 30. Sixteen more vehicles will be sent in the coming days.

"The government agreed to export the tanks only on the condition that they would not be transferred to Ukraine, to ensure that Switzerland adheres to its tradition of military neutrality. However, this marks a milestone as for the first time Switzerland has actively supported European military assistance to Ukraine, ensuring Germany can replenish its tank reserves,” writes the media.
