The United States of America has announced a new $2 billion defense aid package for Ukraine, according to a statement on the Pentagon website.
"Today, the Department of Defense is announcing a new aid package from the United States to reaffirm strong support for Ukraine's courageous defenders and bolster Ukraine's air defenses. This package, totaling $2 billion, is being provided through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) as part of our dedication to Ukraine's long-term security," the statement reads.
Specifically, the United States is committed to providing additional drones, anti-drone countermeasures, and enemy electronic warfare detection equipment, as well as critical stockpiles of artillery munitions and precision-guided firepower, that will enhance Ukraine's ability to repel Russian aggression.
The new package will include:
additional ammunition for artillery-rocket systems of increased mobility HIMARS;
additional artillery shells with a caliber of 155 mm;
ammunition for laser-guided missile systems;
unmanned system CyberLux K8 UAS;
kamikaze drones Switchblade 600;
unmanned systems Altius-600;
unmanned systems Jump 20;
means of combating drones and equipment for detecting enemy electronic warfare;
mine clearance equipment;
protective communication auxiliary equipment;
funding for training, maintenance and technical support.
As part of the Security Assistance to Ukraine Initiative (USAI), contracts are being signed with manufacturers who, in the future, must fulfill orders for the production of equipment.
