Ukrainian intelligence released a documentary film "The Downed Pilots of Russia", in which it described how a Russian pilot flew a Mi-8 AMTSh helicopter to Ukraine.
The special operation of the Ukrainian military intelligence had the code name "Titmouse". 28-year-old Russian captain Maxim Kuzminov was a helicopter commander, served in the 319th separate helicopter regiment of the Russian army aviation - military unit 13984 with a permanent deployment point in Primorsky Krai. In the film, he told the details of the operation.
"I contacted representatives of the intelligence of Ukraine, explained my situation. I was offered security guarantees, new documents, monetary compensation, remuneration. We discussed the details and began to plan my flight directly," says Kuzminov.
According to him, military intelligence was able to organize a safe corridor. "I realized that I was near the border, that is, I transmitted my location. [...] I flew at an extremely low altitude in radio silence mode. Nobody knew what was happening to me. Apparently, for 3-4 days nobody understood that happened. It flew successfully, landed," the pilot added.
Kuzminov said he did so because he opposes aggressive war and does not want to be involved in war crimes.
"What is happening now is just the genocide of the Ukrainian people: both Ukrainian and Russian. The basis of my act is not to contribute to these crimes. I know perfectly well how this will end: Ukraine will definitely win this war simply because that the people are very united. The whole world helps, because it understands that first of all it is necessary to value human life ... no one wants this war," the officer added.
He also urged other Russian pilots to do the same. "You won't regret it at all. You'll just discover the world of colors. And remember: you just don't know much, you haven't seen how other people live. When you really discover something, you will change your mind radically," he said. He.
