In the Republic of Mali, where a military junta friendly to Moscow has been ruling for three years, a Su-25 attack aircraft crashed - this is the second time in the last year.

According to Defense Express, the plane crashed on September 9 in the northeast of the country. The loss of the attack aircraft was confirmed by the country's air force, and footage of the crashed attack aircraft is spreading across the Internet.

Air Force Chief of Staff Colonel Mali Alou Boy Diarra claims that the Su-25 attack aircraft crashed due to a “technical error” and “bad weather.” However, local rebels claim that they shot down the plane. It is known that the pilots managed to eject.

According to Defense Express, the Malian junta received this Su-25 from Russia in January of this year, along with Mi-8 helicopters and Czechoslovak L-39 combat trainer aircraft. That is, the plane served its new owners for only eight months.

It is noteworthy that this is the second Su-25 that the Russians have delivered to Mali recently, and which the Malian military quickly lost. The previous one was delivered in August 2022, but in early October of the same year the plane crashed at an airport in the Gao region.
