The IMF's decision to create the Capacity Building Fund for Ukraine underscores the importance of the nation's reform agenda and its commitment to bolstering its potential. As stated in the announcement, this fund is intended to address the needs of implementing Ukraine's development plan and ensuring the successful execution of necessary reforms.
Pyshny emphasized that the recent two memoranda between Ukraine and the IMF placed significant emphasis on preserving macroeconomic, external, and financial stability. These measures are essential to reinforce Ukraine's capabilities on its path to victory.
The NBU Governor highlighted several crucial directions on this path, including international financial assistance, reforming the Ukrainian economy, and strengthening the institutional capacity of governmental bodies. Within each of these directions, regularity, timeliness, and completeness are critical factors. Reform in Ukraine and the enhancement of its capacity must be ongoing, incorporating the best global practices.
Pyshny expressed his gratitude to the IMF for once again affirming its leadership in mobilizing financial support for Ukraine. Currently, donors have already allocated $14 million towards the fund, with the goal of reaching $65 million. He extended his thanks to the Fund and its representative, Gita Gopinath, who acknowledged Ukraine's progress, as well as the governments of partner countries for their unwavering commitment to providing support as needed.
