The United States of America will continue to improve the sustainability of Ukraine's energy system. The states plan to allocate an additional $500 million for this.
“The United States has already provided Ukraine with more than $520 million in assistance for the energy sector. We know that another $500 million is on the way,” US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt said at a briefing, Ukrinform writes.
According to him, these funds are primarily aimed at meeting urgent needs. These include, in particular, the search for new transformers and capacities to restore the energy infrastructure destroyed as a result of attacks by Russian occupation forces.
“Vladimir Putin tried to turn the winter cold into a weapon and use winter as a tool to break the will of the Ukrainian people. I am sure that he will fail,” Payette said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the United States is working with the Ukrainian government to develop a decentralized energy system that will be fully integrated with Europe. According to him, it will become more sustainable and much more environmentally friendly.
