Republican Donald Trump gathered his team, family, and wealthy donors to his campaign at his elite Mar-a-Lago residence. From there, the politician and his guests are watching the vote count and starting to celebrate, although the results in the "shakedown" states are still unknown, the New York Times reports.
Among the invited guests is billionaire Tesla and Space X founder Elon Musk. He is expected to spend election night at Mar-a-Lago with Donald Trump and his ally J.D. Vance.
Musk has been one of Trump's largest financial backers, donating about $119 million to a super PAC created to support the former US president's campaign. Musk also uses his X platform (formerly known as Twitter), which has more than 200 million followers, to promote political views that are in line with Trump supporters.
Musk confirmed his participation in an audio call late Tuesday, saying he had just voted in South Texas and was heading to Florida to support Trump at the event. His presence is part of a larger strategy in which big-name business leaders and donors are bringing energy to the Palm Beach political scene ahead of a major campaign milestone, The Washington Post reports.
According to Page Six, Musk arrived at Mar-a-Lago with his young son.
Among the guests were Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner. Others spotted at the gathering included Caitlyn Jenner, Tiffany Trump and her husband Michael Boulos, and the Republican nominee's sons Barron Eric and Donald Jr.
"There's crazy security. Bomb-sniffing dogs got on the bus," a source told the outlet.
After Mar-a-Lago, everyone will head to the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, for Trump's official campaign night.
