The flooding in Russia is gaining momentum - Kurgan continues to sink in the water. The water level in the Tobol River is rising and already exceeds 10 meters.

Russian telegram channels report this. It is noted that in 2 hours the water level in the river increased by 2 centimeters. Water is already entering 13 settlements, another 8 are at risk of flooding and inundation.

Local authorities are urging people to evacuate immediately. In particular, evacuation has been announced in three microdistricts of Kurgan. In footage posted online, the sound of sirens can be heard.

At the same time, regional governor Vadim Shumkov reported that the water level in Tobol in a number of areas exceeded the 1994 maximum. According to him, the section of the dam, built in 2014, “is experiencing high hydraulic load due to a sharp rise in water levels and thawing of the lower part of the soil, which causes leaks and detachments.”
