Currently, four NATO countries are against Ukraine joining the Alliance, but US President Donald Trump can influence the opponents of this decision. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with representatives of the International Media Council.
He noted that some states stated that Ukraine would be in NATO, but "these were false words, because decades passed, and Ukraine never became a member of NATO. It was dishonest."
According to the president, opponents of Ukraine joining NATO appeal to some previous agreements with the Russian Federation.
"Why did you suddenly agree without us about us? We are an independent country. I would like to equalize the level of respect of others for Ukraine. And we are fighting for security guarantees, we want to be in NATO, most NATO countries support us," he noted.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine is not supported in NATO by four countries - the United States, Germany, Slovakia and Hungary.
"However, everything depends on the United States, and if Trump is ready to see Ukraine in NATO, we will be in NATO, everyone will be for it. If not, we will not be in NATO," he believes.
