The administration of the President of the United States of America Donald Trump has resumed sending some types of weapons to Ukraine.

This happened a week after the Pentagon announced the suspension of some deliveries, the Associated Press reports, citing unnamed American officials. It is noted that among the weapons sent to Ukraine are 155-mm ammunition and high-precision missiles known as GMLRS. It is not known exactly when the deliveries resumed.

The AP recalled that last week, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered a suspension of deliveries of some weapons to Ukraine to allow the Pentagon to assess its weapons stockpiles. This news took the White House by surprise, journalists write.

The pause in deliveries affected missiles for the Patriot air defense system, high-precision GMLRS missiles, Hellfire missiles, howitzer shells, and the like.

It is unclear whether the pause in the transfer of missiles to the Patriot systems will continue. The $4 million ammunition is in high demand.

At the same time, 155 mm artillery shells have become one of the most common munitions in the Russian-Ukrainian war. The authors note that each shell is about 60 centimeters long, weighs about 45 kilograms, and has a diameter of 155 mm.

"They are used in howitzer systems, which are towed large guns that vary in the range of firing angles to which their barrels can be adjusted. Howitzer fire can hit targets at a distance of 24 to 32 kilometers, depending on the type of shell and firing system, making them very valuable for ground forces to hit enemy targets from a protected distance," the article says.

AP adds that since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the US has provided Kyiv with more than 3 million 155-mm shells.
