The collaboration between singer Chrystyna Soloviy and writer Serhiy Zhadan on the music video for their song "Heart" has taken an unexpected turn. The video, shot inside the historic Saint Andrew's Church in Lviv, has stirred controversy and caught the attention of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC).
UGCC is now urging the removal of the music video from YouTube, citing concerns about its content. In a statement, UGCC expressed its request, saying, "We want to address the appearance of the 'Heart' video on the internet, featuring Chrystyna Soloviy and Serhiy Zhadan. We have already reached out to them, asking for the removal of this video because it promotes anti-Christian values and deviates from the essence and scenario of the video we were informed about beforehand."
The music video for "Heart" is described as a manifesto of love for the world, rooted in honesty and understanding of its flaws and imperfections. It tells an open and understandable love story between two individuals, characterized by dedication and courage. The video was partially filmed within Saint Andrew's Church, creating a sense of timeless beauty that transcends eras and people. Just like true love, which overcomes any obstacles and prejudices.
As of now, neither Zhadan nor Soloviy has responded to the appeals made by UGCC.
