At the Ukraine Green Recovery Conference in Vilnius, the Minister of Environmental Protection, Ruslan Strilets, emphasized the country's commitment to "Building Back Better and Greener," principles crucial for the post-war reconstruction. He noted that partners are ready to assist Ukraine in transitioning from ruins to a green transformation, echoing President Volodymyr Zelensky's stance that reconstruction is not only a post-victory endeavor but an urgent present imperative.

2. Green Projects and Job Creation

Strilets reported Ukraine's focus on green projects, anticipating the creation of up to 4.2 million green jobs to offset war losses. The country is actively working on laws essential for European integration, aligning itself with the EU and streamlining the path for potential investors.

3. Waste Management and Climate Office

Ukraine is developing projects for European-style waste processing plants, with hundreds already in the launch stage across different regions. In collaboration with German partners, Ukraine has inaugurated the Climate Office, a tool aimed at attracting green funding for post-war reconstruction.

4. Forest Restoration and Digital Reform

The country aims to restore its forests by planting one billion trees, having already achieved nearly 44% of the program. Centers for seedling cultivation have been established, accompanied by a large-scale reform of the forest industry, including a campaign for sector digitization with electronic services for more effective timber movement control.

5. Support from the EU and Global Partners

Minister Strilets expressed gratitude to the EU for establishing the "Ukraine Facility," considering it a crucial element enabling Ukraine to confidently move towards climate neutrality, build a circular economy, and modernize industry to the highest standards. He acknowledged the support of all international partners, stating that the assistance provided today will yield results tomorrow.
