1. Blockade on the Poland-Ukraine Border: Prolonged Protests by Polish Drivers

The blockade initiated by Polish drivers at four border checkpoints with Ukraine continues. According to the Polish side, there are 2,700 trucks in queues at the border. As stated by Andriy Demchenko, a representative of Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, the situation remains tense. Polish border guards report that at the four control points where the blockade began on November 6 - Yahodyn and Rava-Ruska (each with 600 trucks), Krakivets (700), and Shehyni (800) - trucks are awaiting passage. The blockade in these directions will continue around the clock from November 27.

2. Legacy of Protests: Consequences and Demands

Protests by Polish carriers, which started on November 6, have caused a complete standstill at three border crossings with Ukraine: Dorohusk-Yahodyn, Korczowa-Krakivets, and Hrebenne-Rava-Ruska. Ukrainian trucks are queuing for kilometers, with waiting times reaching up to ten days. One of the main demands of Polish carriers to the Ukrainian government is the reinstatement of the practice of issuing permits for Ukrainian carriers, canceled by the agreement with the EU until June 30, 2024. Protesters call for the termination of this agreement and the restoration of the permit regime from January 1.

3. Expansion of Protests: Involvement of Farmers and Agricultural Producers

On November 23, Polish farmers joined the protests of local carriers, initiating a blockade of freight traffic at the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint near Przemysl. This event has further complicated the situation, as farmers are putting forward their own demands. This new development adds to the overall tension at the border.

4. Negotiations and Resolution Attempts: Poland Appeals to Ukraine

Poland has approached Ukraine with proposals to resolve the situation. Presumably, during the negotiations, the countries are attempting to find a compromise and resolve the conflicts between Polish drivers and the Ukrainian government.

5. Impact on Freight Transport in the Region: Expectations and Perspectives

The situation also affects other borders. In the morning, 550 trucks were waiting to cross from Hungary to Ukraine at the Tysa checkpoint. However, according to Ukrainian representatives, the border with Slovakia is currently open, and trucks are passing without issues.

6. Turbulence at the Poland-Ukraine Border Persists

The situation at the Poland-Ukraine border remains tense, with thousands of trucks awaiting permission to pass. Protests, initially stemming from the demands of carriers, have expanded to include farmers, making the resolution of the conflict even more complex. Negotiations and diplomatic efforts are underway to find a way out, but their outcomes are still unclear. Freight transport in the region faces serious challenges, and the uncertainty continues to concern both market participants and ordinary citizens.
