The blockade of freight transport at the Vyšné Nemecké border crossing between Slovakia and Ukraine is causing significant challenges for transportation.

According to information from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Slovak Union of Carriers has initiated the blockade of freight movement through the Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint on the border with Ukraine. The action began on December 1 at 16:05 and appears to be initiated by representatives of the Slovak Union of Carriers.

However, it is important to note that this blockade will not affect the transportation of humanitarian aid, live animals, fuel, and refrigerated cargo. Thus, countries can continue to interact within the framework of support and urgent goods exchange.

According to the official statement from the Slovak Border Police, the flow of goods from Slovakia will be allowed in limited quantities—no more than four trucks per hour. Nevertheless, it is crucial to highlight that traffic towards Slovakia will not be affected, and entry into the country will continue without changes. This partial restriction is likely to impact logistics and trade between Slovakia and Ukraine, requiring additional efforts for planning and coordination.

The blockade of the transportation flow may pose significant difficulties for entrepreneurs and companies involved in transporting goods through this border crossing. Despite exemptions for humanitarian supplies and some other categories of cargo, it can still impact economic activity in the region.

It is worth noting that this blockade is occurring against the backdrop of an ongoing strike by Polish carriers, leading to queues at the border with Poland. Important ministries of Ukraine and Poland have already taken measures to alleviate this situation and reduce truck queues at border crossings. However, the new restrictions imposed by Slovakia may create additional challenges and require extra efforts to resolve logistical problems.

Therefore, the current situation necessitates careful monitoring and prompt response from authorities and the business community to minimize negative consequences for trade and economic relations between Slovakia and Ukraine.
