The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has suspended membership in the organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society due to the scandal with the deportation of Ukrainian children to Belarus. This was reported on the official website of the IFRC.

The statement states that the decision to suspend membership was made due to the fact that the Belarusian Red Cross did not comply with the requirement to dismiss the head of the organization, Dmitry Shevtsov, from his position. Previously, he visited occupied Lugansk and Donetsk, and also admitted to the deportation of Ukrainian children to Belarus, which caused a loud international scandal.

Suspension of membership means that the Belarusian Red Cross will not be able to receive funding as a member of the IFRC and will not be able to participate in the General Assembly, vote or be elected at any statutory meetings of the IFRC. Membership is promised to be renewed after fulfilling the requirements of the Federation.

At the same time, the IFRC promises to cooperate with Belarusians in the event of a disaster or significant emergency in the country.
