In Ukraine, Over 250 Cases of Human Trafficking Exposed Since the Start of War: Ministry of Internal Affairs Reports
According to the latest update from the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, a total of 264 criminal offenses related to human trafficking have been registered from the beginning of the war in February 2022 to October 2023. Investigations have led to suspicions against 169 individuals.
The Ministry highlighted that over the past two years, the Ukrainian National Police successfully dismantled the operations of six organized groups involved in human trafficking, with members of these criminal groups facing legal proceedings.

In its communication, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recalled the annual observance of the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery on December 2 worldwide. The primary objective of this day is to eradicate modern forms of slavery, including human trafficking, sexual exploitation, the worst forms of child labor, forced marriages, bride trafficking, widow inheritance, forced recruitment of children for use in armed conflicts, and more.
The measures taken by Ukraine under the Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others, adopted during the 4th session of the UN General Assembly on December 2, 1949, have been instrumental in preventing this ominous phenomenon. Significant attention is being devoted to active measures in combating organized groups engaged in human trafficking. Over the last two years, law enforcement agencies have successfully intervened, putting an end to the activities of six such groups, underscoring a consistent commitment in this direction.
