Military analyst, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Petr Chernik explained why recently the Russian occupiers, in addition to Avdievka, have focused their efforts on the city of Marinka, Donetsk region, which is virtually completely destroyed.
On the air of a national information telethon, he noted that in a strategic sense, the logic of the actions of the Russian occupiers is quite clear - they decided that it was necessary to go to the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
“The strategic goal of eliminating Ukrainian statehood was not achieved, so it is necessary to comprehend the minimum tasks. By the way, the casus belli, that is, the reason for war (on the part of the Russian Federation), was precisely the recognition of the LPR and DPR as independent republics, and then their inclusion in the Russian Federation "Everything is absolutely logical on their part. Marinka, Avdeevka, Bakhmut are strategic gates to the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. The Tsar gave the order to take at any cost, so they will do everything possible to make this happen. Whether it will happen, time will tell," - emphasized Chernik.
He added that for the Russian invaders it does not matter whether the city of Marinka is completely destroyed or not. “It is important to achieve the political meaning of this war, precisely in this understanding, to reach the administrative borders. And this is a stronghold that has been strengthened for more than nine years. It is quite firmly fortified on our side. If they take it, then the next goal will be to reach the already mentioned borders regions," Chernik explained.
The military analyst recalled that the aggressor country included the occupied Ukrainian territories of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions “into its federation according to the constitution.” Therefore, despite the insidious plans of the Russian invaders, there is logic in their actions.
“If you put yourself in their place, then this is an absolutely logical task for them. The maximum has not been realized. Ukraine has held out. And they must implement the minimum. According to their logic of historical retrospect, we achieve and freeze, because that’s exactly how they think. Relatively speaking, let’s assume "that they have reached the administrative borders of all four regions. And then they declare to the whole world that they have completed their special operation. And it is the Ukrainians who do not want to end the war," Chernik said.
He added that in such a scenario for the development of events, unfortunately, there may be political forces and state leaders in the world, even in the West, who will say “this is such a political reality and we must take this into account, look for some kind of formula for stopping the war.” “This is exactly what they (the Russians) think, because in terms of time they have an endless resource, unlike us,” Chernik noted.
