The Russian occupiers continue to conduct offensive operations near Avdievka and have confirmed the offensive.
This is discussed in a new report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). They noted that geolocation footage shows that the Russians have made some progress in the industrial zone southeast of Avdeevka.
At the same time, Russian military officers disseminated information that the Russians managed to advance south of the Avdeevka landfill, in the area of the Avdeevka coke plant and near Pervomaisky and east of Avdeevka. However, Institute analysts noted that there is actually no evidence of these “achievements.”
According to analysts citing geolocation footage, units of the Russian 87th and 1487th regiments (1st Army Corps "DPR"), 10th Tank Regiment (3rd Army Corps, Western Military District) and sabotage -assault brigade "veterans", operating in the industrial zone southeast of Avdeevka.
In turn, the Ukrainian Armed Forces counterattacked near Avdiivka and confirmed the offensive. Geolocation footage shows that Ukrainian troops were advancing on Stepovoye. Ukrainian troops hold positions in the center of Stepovoy, despite Russian attacks.
In addition, Russian forces continued ground attacks in the Bakhmut area, but did not achieve any confirmed successes. At the same time, Russian military officers stated that Russian troops achieved unspecified successes in the Khromovo area, advanced 400 m on the southwestern outskirts of Bakhmut and advanced 500 m in the Kleshchievka area. But ISW saw no visual evidence to support these claims.
