Nvidia is gearing up to unveil a graphics card aimed at catering to users who seek a balance between performance and cost-effectiveness. The upcoming revamped RTX 3050 model will consume less power, dropping from 130 watts to 75 watts, and will feature reduced memory, scaling down from 8GB to 6GB. Priced between $179 to $189, this version significantly undercuts its predecessor's starting price of $249 for the 8GB variant.
In addition to the reduced specs, the new version will operate at a lower frequency of 1470 MHz compared to the standard 1552 MHz and will sport a 96-bit memory bus instead of the previous 128-bit. Essentially, it caters to entry-level gaming for 1080p resolution while also supporting ray tracing and DLSS.
The release of the updated GeForce RTX 3050 is expected to hit the market next month. Furthermore, Nvidia is preparing to unveil new RTX 40 series graphics cards tagged with 'Super' suffixes, also slated for January 2024.
Within the Super series, three models are anticipated: RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4080 Super. All are promised to deliver higher performance, addressing the current VRAM limitation and high prices seen in the existing lineup.
