Due to hostilities, technical reasons and bad weather, 491 settlements were cut off from power; as a result of the night shelling of the capital, 120 consumers were left without electricity, reports the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
“Restrictions on power supply are not applied in any of the regions. The introduction of shutdown schedules for household consumers is not envisaged,” the statement says. However, according to NEC Ukrenergo, today there is again a shortage of capacity in the energy system. The reasons are insufficient generation against the background of high consumption in the country.
“The ability of power plants to increase electricity production is still very limited. Today, three power units were not put into operation at a certain time due to the extension of the emergency repair period. Emergency and planned repair work continues at other thermal power plant units, and solar power plants cannot operate at maximum their capabilities due to dense cloud cover throughout the country," the energy company reports.
According to Ukrenergo, consumption exceeds the forecast level by 2.2%. This is equivalent to operating at least two additional units of thermal power plants whose capacity is not yet available.
“To avoid shortages and maintain a balance between production and consumption in the energy system, it is now especially important to consume electricity economically,” the energy sector insists.
To avoid blackouts and maintain balance in the energy system, Ukrenergo is forced to attract emergency assistance from Romania and Poland.
