Shovkovsky's Triumph at Dynamo
Under the guidance of Alexander Shovkovsky, Dynamo Kyiv has clinched victory in four consecutive matches. On Monday, December 11, Kiev's Dynamo secured a win against Obolon in the 17th round of the Ukrainian Premier League.
Following this game, Ukrainian coach Alexander Shovkovsky shed the interim tag and was officially appointed as the head coach of Dynamo Kyiv, as announced on the club's official website.
Shovkovsky had taken on the role of interim head coach for the "white and blues" following Mircea Lucescu's resignation. The Romanian coach stepped down after a defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk in the 13th round of the Ukrainian football championship.
Guiding Dynamo Kyiv, Shovkovsky led the team to four consecutive wins in the Ukrainian Premier League against Krivbas (2-0), Rukh (2-0), Metalist 1925 (4-2), and Obolon (2-0).
Dynamo Kyiv has now risen to the fifth position in the UPL standings, accumulating 28 points in their tally.
It's noteworthy that Alexander Shovkovsky joined Mircea Lucescu's coaching staff in January 2023. Last spring, the 48-year-old coach temporarily held the role of head coach while Lucescu was recovering from surgery.
Before his tenure at Dynamo Kyiv, Shovkovsky served as an assistant coach for four years under the guidance of Andriy Shevchenko in the Ukrainian national team, and later under Oleksandr Petrakov.
