Rising Demand in Ukraine
In November 2023, Ukrainian roads saw a significant increase in electric car ownership, with a staggering 4,316 battery-powered vehicles joining the national automotive fleet. This surge marks an almost threefold rise compared to the same period a year ago. However, in contrast to October 2023, the market experienced a minor decline of 4%, as per the latest reports.
Vehicle Composition and Preferences
The bulk of newly registered electric vehicles comprised 4,239 passenger cars, consisting of 827 new units and 3,412 used ones. Among the 77 commercial electric vehicles, only 10 were new registrations.
Popular Models
Leading the pack of new electric car registrations in November were models such as the Volkswagen ID.4 with 297 units, Toyota BZ4X with 64, BYD Song with 55, Honda eNS1 with 50, and Volkswagen ID.6 with 48.
When it came to used electric cars, Ukrainian consumers favored models like the Nissan Leaf with 515 units, Tesla Model 3 with 385, Volkswagen e-Golf with 355, Tesla Model Y with 284, and Audi E-Tron with 201 units.
Yearly Surge and Market Trends
In the broader context of 2023, Ukraine has witnessed a staggering 33,000 electric cars registered, a striking 2.8-fold increase compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. Notably, the registration of BEVs saw a rise in the proportion of new vehicles from 17% to 20%.
As previously reported, 2022 saw Ukrainians purchasing 13,600 zero-emission cars, marking a 1.5-fold increase compared to 2021.
This surge in electric car ownership indicates a significant shift in consumer preferences towards sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation options in Ukraine's automotive landscape.
