At the bottom of the former Kakhovka reservoir in Nikopol, Dnepropetrovsk region, a three-hundred-year-old artifact was found - a metal anchor. Suspilny was told about this by the deputy director of the local history museum, Miroslav Zhukovsky.
According to him, according to one version, it could be a metal anchor from the 18th century. The length of the find is 1 meter 20 centimeters, Weight is 18 kilograms.
As the specialist noted, the anchor was rusty, but overall in good condition. Now the find will be sent for examination to the Zaporozhye region.
“I don’t want to get ahead of myself. We are talking about two versions for now. The first is the base of the anchor. The second is some other purpose, but connected with the last Zaporozhye Sich, which existed on the territory of the reservoir from 1734 to 1774,” the historian said .
This is the 11th discovery in the museum from the Kakhovka Reservoir and, as the historian says, not the last. Earlier, a Cossack funeral cross and stone cannonballs were found at the bottom of the former Kakhovka reservoir.
