Technical Issues Alerted by Vodafone and lifecell
Amidst the malfunction in the Kyivstar mobile operator network, both lifecell and Vodafone have cautioned Ukrainian users about potential disruptions. Users have faced difficulties, leading to an influx of inquiries through various communication channels. However, both Vodafone and lifecell reassured users of the stability of their networks despite the ongoing issues within Kyivstar.
Challenges and Assurance
In their announcements, lifecell specifically mentioned, "Friends, we've experienced a significant increase in inquiries via our call centers, social media, and other communication channels. As a result, some of you might experience slightly longer waiting times for our responses. However, our network operations remain stable."
The companies highlighted potential difficulties related to account recharging, new subscriber activations, website, or application usage due to high channel loads.
Kyivstar's Technical Disruption
The disruption within the Ukrainian operator Kyivstar on December 12th resulted in widespread communication and internet unavailability, alongside the operator's website malfunctioning. Investigations later confirmed that a hacker attack targeted the network's core, causing this massive technical failure.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation noted that national roaming services are affected due to Kyivstar's inability to transfer subscriber information to other operators.
Recovery Projections
Experts estimate that restoring Kyivstar's operations may take at least a day or longer. The magnitude of the technical breach caused by the cyber attack requires extensive efforts to stabilize the network's functionality.
