According to UkrEnergo, the country lost 27 GW of installed capacity due to war, with significant losses occurring after full-scale invasions targeted key power stations across the region.

Attacks on Ukrainian thermal and hydroelectric power stations during the heating seasons of 2022-2023 led to substantial damage. The assaults not only affected the infrastructure but also disrupted the overall energy supply chain, necessitating emergency repairs and maintenance throughout spring, summer, and fall. These attacks have had a severe impact on the country's energy stability.
Measures and Import Dependency
To address the energy deficit, Ukraine is turning to import solutions, seeking assistance from the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E). However, dependency on imports is not a complete solution, as it currently covers only a fraction of the shortfall.

The concept of emergency aid in electricity supply from neighboring countries serves as a crucial lifeline for Ukraine during crises. However, this method is not always a guaranteed or sustainable solution, highlighting the urgency for internal conservation efforts.

Ukrainian authorities emphasize the critical need for energy conservation, calling upon citizens and businesses to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours. Practical Steps for Conservation
Simple actions like staggering the use of high-power appliances, scheduling laundry and other tasks during off-peak hours, and turning off unnecessary lights contribute significantly to maintaining a balanced energy system. The government also urges commercial entities to scale back their energy usage, emphasizing the importance of unity in facing this crisis.
