The new President of Argentina, Javier Miley, has officially renounced the country's membership in the BRICS interstate alliance.
The letter, sent to Brazilian President Lula da Silva, South Africa's Cyril Ramaphosa, Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Russian dictator Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is published by CNNE. It says the new administration's foreign policy course is different from the previous one.
"Some decisions taken by the previous administration will be revised. Among them is the creation of a specialized unit for the country's active participation in BRICS, as indicated by President Alberto Fernandez in his letter dated September 4," the president wrote.
At the same time, the Argentine government writes about its readiness to intensify bilateral ties with each country, emphasizing “an increase in trade and investment flows.”
As you know, in the summer Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa invited Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Egypt to the alliance.
