“The specified Russian state enterprise at the federal level is engaged in receiving and processing data from satellites, and also provides relevant products to more than 50 government entities: primarily the Ministry of War, the General Staff and the services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation. An attack against the Far Eastern (largest of the three) branch of the Research Center for Space Hydrometeorology "Planet" was carried out by patriotic cyber volunteers from the group "BO Team". The consequences are devastating!" - say the GUR.
In addition, intelligence officers report that penetration into the center's database made it possible to destroy 280 servers involved in the general network. The volume of destroyed information is approximately 2 petabytes (200 million gigabytes) of data.
“The cost of the digital array lost by Russia may be at least 10 million dollars. Among the destroyed is meteorological and satellite data, which was constantly actively used by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Roscosmos and a number of other departments of the aggressor state, as well as those accumulated over the years unique research. The operation of the supercomputers with which the Far Eastern center is equipped is paralyzed and cannot be restored in full,” military intelligence summed up.
