On the night of Thursday, January 25, Russian invaders attacked the southern regions of Ukraine in two waves with drones of the Shahed-131/136 type, and Odessa came under the main attack, there was destruction there, six people were injured.
According to the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine, the pause between air raid warnings was up to 15 minutes; combat work was carried out in conditions of numerous drones attacking simultaneously. It is said that the air defense forces managed to shoot down 11 kamikaze drones: ten in the Odessa region, one in the Nikolaev region. According to the Defense Forces, the aggressor used already tested tactical tricks - he entered from the Black Sea at low altitudes and resorted to complex maneuvers.
“Unfortunately, the downed drones flew along an inertial trajectory to residential areas. One of them, hitting a partially inhabited multi-storey new building in the Khadzhibeysky district of Odessa, caused a fire. Several apartments were damaged, one person received burns and was hospitalized,” the report notes.
Another damaged drone hit the roof of a two-story residential building in the Primorsky district of the city. Another UAV fell in the same residential area, next to an apartment building damaged during a previous attack. The blast wave caused a lot of damage to the glazing of the surrounding houses, a car parked in the yard was burned to smithereens, and several others were damaged. There, four people were injured, they were treated on the spot and are being treated on an outpatient basis. Rescuers freed one of the victims from under the rubble.
In addition, it was not possible to avoid being hit - the enemy entered the warehouse of a furniture factory in the Industrial District of Odessa. A powerful fire broke out due to a large amount of flammable substances. A man riding a bicycle nearby was thrown to the ground by the shock wave. The victim was injured by debris from various objects scattered from the explosion. He received medical assistance and is being treated on an outpatient basis.
“We remind you that the enemy is an insidious terrorist who does not shy away from destroying civilians and infrastructure. Do not neglect your own safety, be guided by messages about threats, move to shelter in time! This will save your life,” the Defense Forces note.
According to the press service of the regional headquarters of the State Emergency Service, more than 80 rescuers simultaneously worked at different addresses, tamed the fire, and cleared away the rubble. State Emergency Service psychologists provided assistance to local residents.
