The United States Congress has agreed on the text of an agreement on the security of the southern border with Mexico. The agreement was reached despite efforts by former US President Donald Trump and his allies to derail the negotiations.

The resumption of assistance to Ukraine depends on the acceptance of this document, since requests for additional funding are not accepted precisely because of border policy. According to The Guardian, the text of the document should be made public in the coming days.

"The proposal being debated in Congress would significantly change immigration policy to curb migration amid a record surge of people arriving at the southern border of the United States. This would include significant concessions from Democrats in exchange for Republican support for military aid to Israel and Ukraine." – notes the publication.

Journalists write that failure to conclude a deal will have global consequences. The Pentagon warned that Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines of a difficult war with Russia risk being left without ammunition.

In turn, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that “the future of the war in Ukraine” and “the security of our Western democracy” depend on Congress reaching a deal.
