There is practically nothing Soviet in the Ukrainian army anymore, says the commander of the training of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Viktor Nikolyuk.
In an interview with Donbass Reality, he noted that several generations have already grown up since the collapse of the USSR. “To say Soviet... it seems to me that this is more in the subconscious of every person: how do you feel about how society raised you, how your parents raised you, how the environment raised you?” - he noted.
Nikolyuk says that there used to be “hazing” in the army, but now it is gone. If a commander humiliates his subordinates, one cannot remain silent about it, the military man added.
“If before a soldier was treated like this... it’s good that you exist. We, as officers, when performing a task, we depend on him. He must be valued. And the attitude itself is such that the life of a soldier, it is the most important, we already have it a priori worked out by our entire leadership team, from the squad commander to the President of Ukraine,” added the major general.
