The Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced near Gorlovka and retreated in the Bakhmut area, - ISW

Russian occupiers have recently advanced southwest from Bakhmut. Positional battles continued near Bogdanovka, Ivanovsky and Kleschievka.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, at the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to restore lost positions northwest of Gorlovka. Geolocation video released on January 29 shows Ukrainian forces attacking and capturing several positions about three kilometers northwest of Horlivka.
In addition, over the past 24 hours, fighting continued near Avdeevka, but there were no confirmed changes in this section of the front. According to Russian sources, Ukrainian troops have been counterattacking in the area of the Tsarskaya Okhota restaurant on the southern outskirts of the city over the past few days. Ukrainian and Russian sources spoke about positional battles:
- near Novobakhmutovka, Stepnoy;
- in the area of the coke plant;
- near the restaurant "Tsarskaya Okhota";
- in an industrial zone;
- near Nevelskoye, Pervomaiskoye and Opytnoye.
The invaders recently made an unsuccessful assault southwest of Donetsk amid ongoing trench fighting. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that our defenders repelled an unsuccessful attack by the invaders in the direction of Sladkoe-Konstantinovka and that the Russians lost two tanks, six MT-LB armored combat vehicles and one BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle. Geolocated footage shows damaged and abandoned Russian armored vehicles north and south of Novomikhailovka.
Positional battles also continue west of Donetsk near Georgievka and southwest of Donetsk near Pobeda and Novomikhailovka.
