The Ukrainian Air Force was the first in history to destroy a long-range radar detection and control aircraft in conjunction with an Il-22.
This was stated by the speaker of the Armed Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in an interview with the Center for Countering Disinformation, commenting on the successful operation of the Ukrainian military to shoot down an A-50 on January 14. According to him, there is no better advertisement for Western weapons.
“The destruction of the A-50 in addition to the Il-22, which works in tandem, is the first time in history that such an aircraft was destroyed. The Western world applauds,” Ignat emphasized.
He also noted that such an operation is a serious image blow to the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The Air Force dreamed of destroying such a plane. You can’t imagine the joy of those who did it, what joy there was at the command post. This is truly inspiring. A big target, it was destroyed,” the speaker concluded.
