Canada will transfer more than 800 SkyRanger R70 multifunctional unmanned aerial vehicles to Ukraine. This was stated by Canada's Minister of National Defense Bill Blair.

Teledyne FLIR drones are equipped with automated and autonomous navigation systems. They are expected to help Ukrainian operators recognize people, vehicles and any heat sources over a long distance, especially in darkness and bad weather.

"The SkyRanger R70 is one of the best in the world and can carry a variety of payloads weighing up to 3.5 kilograms, including ammunition. These drones are essential for surveillance and intelligence gathering, and can also be used for transport and delivery of goods," the statement said on government website.

Canada is now working with Ukraine on a training plan and delivery schedule that should begin this spring. It is noted that the UAVs will be purchased through military aid to Ukraine in the amount of $500 million, which was announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during his visit to Kyiv last summer.
