British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will arrive in Poland today, where he will announce the largest military aid package in history for Ukraine.
According to the Office of the British Prime Minister, in Warsaw he will discuss with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg the threat from Russia and Britain's efforts to support European security. He will then travel to Berlin to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
"An additional £500 million of funding announced today, which will bring UK military aid to Ukraine to £3 billion this financial year, will be used to quickly deliver urgently needed ammunition, air defenses, drones and engineering support," it said. .
The Defense Department will also send the largest weapons package in history to help repel a Russian invasion on land, sea and in the air. It will include:
- 60 boats, including sea raid vessels and diving boats, as well as naval guns;
- more than 1,600 strike and anti-aircraft missiles, as well as additional Storm Shadow long-range precision missiles;
- more than 400 vehicles, including 160 protected mobile vehicles "Husky", 162 armored vehicles and 78 all-terrain vehicles;
- about 4 million rounds of small arms ammunition.
"Defending Ukraine from Russia's brutal ambitions is vital to our security and to all of Europe. If Putin is allowed to succeed in this war of aggression, he will not stop at the Polish border. Ukraine's armed forces continue to fight bravely, but they need our support - and they need it them now," Sunak said.
