The battle for Chasov Yar is of strategic importance for both the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the Russian occupiers, military expert and ATO veteran Yevgeny Diky said in an interview with NV.
“In fact, the entire battle for Donbass is being decided in Chasovy Yar. After all, control over Chasovy Yar is not just a tactical advantage. Control over these dominant heights means fire, and in the future, complete control over a large densely populated agglomeration. That is, this is Konstantinovka, Druzhkovka, Kramatorsk and Slavyansk. Four large cities. Their fate is being decided in Chasovoy Yar,” Dikiy said.
He also added that in the event of the loss of Chasovy Yar, Ukraine will be forced to evacuate the civilian population from these settlements.
“Now they are front-line, but will actually become a combat zone. At the most, it is not a fact that we will hold these cities. In order to now increase pressure on Chasov Yar, according to Western sources, work is now underway to transfer two airborne divisions from the area Robotino. This looks very logical and consistent to me. They critically need Chasov Yar, it’s really about strategy,” Dikiy explained.
