In particular, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, wrote on the X network: “I strongly condemn this vile attack against Prime Minister Robert Fico. Such acts of violence have no place in our society and undermine democracy, which is our most valuable common good. My thoughts are with Prime Minister Fico and his family."

European Council President Charles Michel stressed that nothing could justify this attack. “I am shocked by the news of the attack on Slovak Prime Minister Fico after a cabinet meeting in the city of Gandlova. Nothing can ever justify violence or such attacks. My thoughts are with the Prime Minister and his family,” he wrote.

The head of the European Parliament, Roberta Mezola, condemned the attack on Fico. “Shocked by the horrific attack on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Handlov. On behalf of the European Parliament, I condemn this act of violence. My thoughts are with him and his (Fico – ed.) family at this very difficult moment,” she wrote.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was "shocked and outraged" by the attack on Fico. “I wish him strength for a speedy recovery. My thoughts are with Robert Fico, his loved ones and the people of Slovakia,” wrote the Secretary General of the Alliance.

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer also condemned the assassination attempt on the Slovak Prime Minister.

“The attempt on the life of my Slovak colleague Robert Fico left me in shock. We spoke on the phone just a few days ago and had an intense discussion about security. I wish him a speedy and complete recovery!” Negammer said.

He noted that it is unacceptable for “hatred and violence to take root in our democracies” and called for fighting against it with all determination.

Representatives of the Polish authorities were also shocked by the attempt on the life of the Slovak Prime Minister.

“Shocking news from Slovakia. Robert, my thoughts are with you at this very difficult moment,” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on Network X.
