The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine proposes to increase the excise tax on fuel. The founder of the Prime group of companies, Dmitry Levushkin, predicts that its cost at gas stations may rise to 75-80 hryvnia per liter.
He expressed this opinion on the air of “Suspilne. Studio”. According to him, the government is implementing the EU recommendation to bring Ukrainian legislation closer to European legislation in terms of excise tax. It concerns primarily domestic Ukrainian taxes and fees.
“It could have been delayed, but it turned out to be very timely, because the budget needs to be filled somehow, and therefore the government, without hesitation for a long time, decided to increase the excise tax on fuel,” Levushkin noted.
When this EU directive is implemented, fuel in Ukraine will cost the same as in Europe, he says.
“The price of gasoline and diesel will be somewhere around 1.6 - 1.8 dollars. For us, we will come out to somewhere around 75-80 hryvnia per liter. According to another law, also in July of this year it will increase by about 4 hryvnia the cost of autogas will continue to rise by about another hryvnia every six months,” the expert explained.
